Paul S. brought up an issue worth discussing or being pointed out:
> I'm disappointed that less than half of the PUG commentators have posted

Well, so far it's only the 8th of this month. But I'd agree that the sooner the
better. (How did the commentators do last month? Seem to remember someone reported
being prevented from it, which of course is acceptable. (However, should we ask anyone
being prevented to comment to transfer the non-commented-upon-shooters to somebody
else?)
> [snip] But I

Me too, just like many others.
> The real meat is sorely lacking here.
Not altogether, is it? At löeast from time to time we do get into it, don't we?
Anyone know how we're doing compared to other lists?
> We have had extensive discussions of diacritical typography,
Yeaah, that was a good one! Particularly on the Scandinavian wovels... <g>
> dogs,
Yeah, if it only were women instead...
> index numbering,
(Wasn't there a point worth discussing in there? But never mind, I see what you're
saying.)
> the new toys we've purchased, and all manner of detritus.
(That's a new word to me. Will look it up.)
> But we rarely discuss photos or photographic techniques.
Is it really only "rarely"? Anyway I agree there could/should be more of it.
> The PUG is an excellent source of material that could lead to the discussion of both.
Completely agreed.
> Why are these off-topic things more important?
Who ever said they were important? :)
> Is it just that it's easier to discuss nothing than it is to comment intelligently
>(or even unintelligently) about a real,
> honest-to-god photograph?
Probably. I guess it's a matter of how much time people have, or energy. Or maybe, the
sporadic nature of people's presence on the list. It's always easier to throw in just
a comment on trivia, just to mark that you are still there, than to collect your
thoughts and produce some thinking. (Not that I think it should be that way.)
However I agree with what you want.
Then, what can be done to improve on this?
