I bought mine new in the mid-80's with several of the specialized heads & accessories available for it. I usually leave it cocked up on the first click (to avoid red-eye); the diffusers & etc seem to be in the "fishing lure" category.... sucks for catching fish but sure catches fishermen. I dunno abt it's only being rated down to a 28mm lens..... I've used it with 24mm to 400mm (200 with 2x tele) and never had a complaint .... all on a Program Plus..... so no TTL. The high/low output DOES affect strobe strength & battery life. Sometimes, when the "x-tras" aren't handy, a bit of scotch tape over the flash works BETTER than any gizmo. YMMV.
