I tried this, too - but it did not work. It depends on your type of photography but ZX-5n does not overexpose every shot, just some. I did get a film underexposed but the amount of compensation (1/3 stop in this case, not very much) but the odd 1-2 overexposures were there as before. Now I use center-weighted AE and have no problems. Sometimes I bracket if I think the shot important or problematic enough. All the best!
