Perhaps, but theres nothing preventing them from adding spotmeter, and maybe matrix,
by cells in the prism. Particularly if they choose to use fixed prisms. With
interchangeable viefinders they could provide a Matrix/spot viewfinder.
OTF metering could perhaps be selected manually and/or activated automatically at
shutterspeed longer than, say, one second.
Also with todays computer controlled cameras the reflectivity of various films could
be stored in the cameras memory. Also their reciprocity characteristics. This database
could be updated to comply with newer films at Pentax service centers.
Also, the camera should give approximate estimates on long exposure times so that you
know if the camera plan to expose for 2 or 20 minutes. It shouldn't have these
software defined "out of range of meter" messages, but be able to expose for as long
as needed such as on the LX.
