I can tell you that many, many years ago, I switched from Olympus OM-1 to
Pentax MX for this very reason.  I was shooting alot of theatre and I
couldn't see the match needle on the OM-1 in the near dark.  The MX was just
the ticket with it's lighted meter.  The center weighted meter should be
just fine once you get used to it.  As for noise, it somewhat depends on how
much ambient noise there is.  If it is extremely quiet where you will be
shooting, anything is going to sound loud.  But you would gain the ability
to quietly rewind the film without the noise of the winder.  Go for the MX -
if you need one, I might be willing to part with one of mine.
