I have the S10 which is the predecessor to the S20. The S10 was SCSI interface rather than USB. You can get current drivers from HP. I use VueScan from Hamrick Software but the new program from HP is not bad. It will scan both color and B &W negatives, slides and flat items up to 5x7. The resolution is fair but not up to the newer 4800 scanners. Scanning slides can be finicky as the slides may hang up once in a while but a careful push wll fix that. Some slides can have problem areas in the shadows but that can usually be tweaked in the scan.

Does anyone have any views on an HP Photosmart S20 film/slide scanner?
I am looking
to buy a film scanner since I do not shoot digital as yet. I have a
limited budget of $150
for a used scanner.

A guy on craigslist is selling this particular model so was wondering
if it is any good?
I intend to scan negatives for sharing pictures on the web and scan some slides
occasionally to get prints made from the digital files (family, travel etc).

Thanks,
Gaurav
