You weren't paying attention. I compared a Rebel XT to my D just the other day. I thought someone turned the lights out.
Same goes for the Rebel XT and Ds... Pentax really did get the viewfinders right. Canon, Nikon and Olympus entry level cameras are "light at the end of the tunnel" views... and most of the lights are 50watt bulbs.
