Hi Dave -
I'm still on my second set of Energizer Lithiums - I bought an 8 pack at the
local Walgreens.
So far I have 794 exposures on this set - everything on this set and the
last was RAW. I have the LCD set for a 5 second post-view of the shots, I
don't do much review for sharpness in camera (with the subjects I'm shooting
there is little chance to re-do) but I do check the histogram now and then
and eyeball the post-view to make sure the exposure is not totally wonked -
a slip of the flash in the hotshoe can result in TTL malfunctioning, but I
usually detect that when I hear a full discharge of a flash that I expect to
be just doing fill.
I think the non-af and non-rtf really stretch the batteries.

Mark.
My first set of Lithiums went from about frame 60 to about frame 1000,with
some RTF and
50/50 af,mf.
I bought a set of duracell 2050's and they lasted about 400 frames. Mostly
raw files this
time around
anf some RTF.

batteries, so I gave it a try.
It's been a few weeks, and to my surprise I got to 1471 shots before the
low
battery indicator came on. I changed out the set then, even though I
could
probably squeeze some more shots out of them. (The lithium's are now in a
flash unit, and seem to be working adequately, though not on par with
fresh
batteries.)
That's almost entirely manual focus shooting with virtually no use of the
RTF - but I've come round to the opinion that the Lithium's are the way
to
go. Thanks to all who offered up their advice!
