Hi!

Fanaticism can be short term (mobs), or long term. It probably was a survival mechanism in hunter/gatherer societies.

You might find if you talk to a few Middle Eastern "fanatics", they still see it as a survival mechanism.

I think that it is all much simpler, much much simpler. Though of course one can notice I am "Middle Eastern" and furthermore with "Soviet" roots.

What happened in London, Madrid, New York and what is happening in my country, served interests of certain people. I am quite sure that those interests were mere economic ones. That is, some people are getting some real big money out of terrorism. Along with that some (probably other) people are getting real big political benefits as well.

I think of those who commit suicide bombings as of yet another kind of victim of those whose interests are served by terror.

Idealistically, and ultimately, if we find out who are those people who benefit most from the terrorist attacks, and bring them to *real* justice then without firewood the terror fire will eventually expire.

Unfortunately I do realize that it is not going to happen in any reasonably foreseeable future.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this subject is very sore for quite many of us. Let us not bring it up, it hurts badly enough as it is.

Boris
