What you write is reasonable and agreeable, but the reasoning can lead to three
types of action. 

Yes, three.

I too am weary of Chamberlainian naivité. It leads to a type of (in)action which
should be sufficiently disproved, by history, to be efficient.

The other two implies some action to be taken to protect ourselves. I'm not
going to outline the two, but suffice it to say that they differ in the
emotions put behind the actions. If we let hatred govern our reasoning, then we
actually sink to a level only marginally different from the terrorists
themselves.

All the Londoners I spoke to yesterday, bar one, voiced an attitude that I
really liked. One of them said: "I hope the police find the bastards who did
this, or what's left of them. It's no good if people of differnt faiths begin
suspecting each other here in Britain".

What the deviating opinion was, I shall not bring on to a "family" list. :-)
