HI Kostas!

However, I have a question:

All shot in manual mode, TTL flash.

What is manual mode, TTL flash? I thought it's either-or.

The camera is set to manual mode for the ambient light exposure. The flash is set to TTL. I try to set the ambient exposure to just 1-2 stops under exposed. the TTL flash will (usually) correctly expose the main subject, and the background is a bit darker, so the subject stand out a bit more.

And while I am at it...

saturation, and sharpness have been tweaked up a bit. I also find that with digital I have to use a monopod, even at shutter speeds of 1/350 I have a hard time getting a really crisp image.

You said something about digital acutance thingymabob in another posting. Isn't the difference caused by the higher magnification? I would have thought the 1/FL rule, being empirical, applies to the 35mm negative. With the 200 on the 1.5-factor "neg", you are looking at 1/300, but with the 200 being a heavy lens, I would have thought one is pushing it at that.

I've wondered if one should use the 1/FL rule with cropping DSLRs, or use a 1/F*1.5. Since you are in essence just cropping an image it seems that the 1/FL rule would apply.

What I found with the *ist-D was that I'd get a ghost image just a tiny bit off of the main image. The explanation I've come up with is that the acuatance in digital means that the tonal values change very rapidly. I think that in film shots, the ghost image was not visible because the edges were not so terribly sharp to begin with. But maybe I'm wrong. At any rate, I would expect that 1/350 would be equivalent to 1/250 even if you assume the 1/FL*1.5 rule....

p.s.: Get well soon!

Thanks!
