That should be manual zoom mode.

Power Zoom isn't supported but the Lens should work fine in manual mode.

I actually meant better in sense of picture quality. Also concerned
about power zoom, will it work on ist D. I can't find the answer to
that anywhere. my ist D manual says its compatible bit then it has a
small number next to it, then no key to what the number means. I
know other power zooms do not work on ist D.

Dear All,
Thinking of buying the pentax 80- 200 f2.8 for my Pentax ist D. But
I am
concerned about the power focus. I have a 28 -105 power zoom which
does not
work on ist D is this the same for 80-200 f2.8. Would it be better
to buy
the sigma lens ?
What do you mean by "better"?
The Sigma weighs less and costs less.
The Pentax weighs a lot more, focuses a lot closer and costs a lot more.
If you can afford the Pentax, it's definitely worth it. If you can't,
buy the Sigma.
