I hope you enjoy your Minox. They're quirky and fun. I've been shooting with Minox cameras for many years. I have Minox IIIS, B, C, EC and CLX models, spanning 1954 to 2000 vintage.

Checked the meter sensitivity against my DS and the Minox is
overexposing by a full F stop, or I guess the DS may be underexposing
a bit: without exposure compensation no areas on my photos ever reach
full brightness (checking on the histogram) but I suppose this is good.

The Minox B's selenium cell meter is certainly no model for accuracy ... never was, and it is now 30+ years old. Don't trust it, learn what it's telling telling you but also learn to estimate exposure.

Film size is only 8x11mm but that won't stop me from having fun.
I'll start by trying some close-up street photography, this camera is
so small, side by side with the DS it doesn't even look like a camera.

Cheap scanners don't have enough optical resolution to fully capture the
detail on this very small (I should use 25 ASA film and the Minox lens
is very sharp) so I think my best choice would be using some bellows
with my M 50mm F4 Macro lens to re-shoot the images with my DS.

Two small galleries of photos from my Minox work:

These were made with a Minox EC. The first set was Minopan 100 (Agfa APX100) @ EI200 in XTOL 1:1, negs scanned on an Epson 2450 at 2400ppi. The second set was Minopan 25 (Agfa APX25) @EI50 in XTOL 1:1, negs scanned on a Minolta Scan Dual II at 2820ppi. I've made 6x8" prints from both of these sets that look good (the low-rez web versions don't do them justice).

I have tons more Minox pictures that are not on my current website. Perhaps I'll dredge a few more galleries out of my local archive...

I've been scanning Minox negatives with the DS using an A50/2.8 Macro and extension tubes to achieve a 2:1 magnification ... Haven't printed any yet, but that gives me a very nice 2000x2750 pixel (5.1Mpixel) image to work with. From that, I am sure I can make excellent 11x14 and larger prints.

Ask me anything about Minox stuff ... ;-)

Godfrey
