I can't do a direct comparison because I've sold the 70-200/4L and 1.4x Extender II (not to mention that I don't have an F70-210, although I do have an A70-210/4 Macro), but here are two sets of landscape/scenic photos I posted from sessions with the 70-200/4L and 1.4x Extender in 2003. Of course, web JPEG resolution barely does this kind of photo justice...
