Finally got around to looking. When you said you missed the moment by a few seconds, I assume you there were more spectacular lighting in the clouds previously. From looking at the midtones in your picture, I would guess that there's a lot of drama to bring out in this picture if you play around with the contrast and/or levels. You may be able to bring out the mood you experienced a few moments earlier from this shot as well. After all, a CCD ship doesn't record reality the same way as our eyes to. :-)
Regarding the plants in the foreground, I find them a bit distracting, but not too bad since they're way out of focus. Personally, I think I would have avoided having them in the picture at all. The landscape is already well composed, with the field and the vegetation as foreground, the fjord as a "middle-ground" and the mountains as background. It all balances well with the drama in the sky, imo.
