The only question I have is, can you tell us there was no focus error for the tests you conducted? Did you rely on AF, MF, or MF with magnifier? Just curious. If DA14 didn't perform that well, I wonder how it compared to K/A15/3.5.

Alan, I used autofocus, except for the Zenitar, of course. Since these are all wide angles, even at f2.8 dof should take care of any autofocus variation. Lens differences that I observed at f2.8 tended to be confirmed at smaller apertures, where dof increases. So I don't think focusing had anything to do with the results. I did think about this beforehand. The shots were from 1.5 to 2.0 m. from the wall. F/Calc tells me that at this distance and f2.8, 16 mm. focal length, dof is over one meter.

Others have reported that the DA 16-45 at 16 mm. outperforms the DA 14.

I have used the DA 14 only a couple of times for images from which I made enlargements (on A4/8-1/2 x 11 inches). The results seemed just fine. The differences I saw at actual pixels may not have much correspondence to real world shooting.
