i don't have a server for my bulk storage. it's on the same machine. my MB has only 4 "normal" slots and three of them are taken up with SCSI, Firewire, and RAID controller cards. only room for one more, but it could be another RAID card. well, at least i am running a PCI-X 64-bit caching RAID controller. that helps a bit, but not as much as you might think. the big gain is the PCI-Express video card. the added bandwith helps Photoshop move the bits around since i have enough RAM for most work. i did some digital audio work way back when, but all of my MIDI gear is not connected right now. eyeing a MOTU MIDI Express 128 to get connected again.
