This is a bit theoretic, as it's technology we are dealing with, and
marketing, and markets, which might make sudden turns...

But here I will have to (gasp!) agree with JCO - 35mm lenses on APS
sensors are way too big. If you have used any of the pro glass, you
know what I mean. Sure, 80-200/2.8 turns into a nice 120-300 but a lot
of PJs were accustomed to the 80-200 or 70-200 slightly "wide" 70-80mm view
at the wide end (remember, it's not only sport shooters out there. A
lot of the 120-300mm shots from many conferences and photojournalism
are just too "long" and boring. And a 17-35/2.8 is BIG (which is not a
problem, but the problem it is unnecessarily big on APS camera.

Myself, I would like to use FF body for reasons of DOF control, and
big viewfinder. Not for resolution, that's what MF is for (digital or
not).

Although, as I said, it's the users who have to adapt to technology
often, not the other way around.
