And the good news (very good news IMO) is that PhotoLab 2.0 now works very
well when doing RAW conversion.
I've tried the same images as shown here:

And the PhotoLab 2.0 gives more or less the result you can see in the Genzo
conversion shown here, as opposed to the odd one of the Photo Lab 1.0.
One next day, if I'll have some spare time, I'll update my page.

So the wrong conversion of the 1.0 (far worse than that done in camera) is
gone, and now slanted and curved lines are reproduced faithfully, thus
allowing useful resizing AND THEN proper sharpening for large format prints.
A correct algorithm at the end!
So I believe that Photoshop CS could no longer be necessary for doing RAW
conversion well.
I think Pentax also did a big and great job in improving both user interface
and versatility of their software. One year hasn't passed for nothing.
