I agree wholeheartedly I too initally shied away from trying to
learn/apply the zone system, but then got lucky and a friend showed me
the basics and all i can say that it was an eye opener. All it takes is
a bit of practice. One side effect is that it gets you into the good
habit of always thinking of the exposure latitude of your medium and
that maked a big difference.
