Too true. I'm kicking myself for not using RAW. I fully intended to do but got distracted.
I took a range of shots starting with the dog correctly exposed down to exposing to get some detail in the sky. Not one of them was much use, so I thought it might be easier to do correction on on where ~nothing~ was correctly exposed <g>.
After struggling with some very strange meter readings and trying to get the darn camera to fire the flash to add in some fill flash, I gave up
The Dark Side Of the Dog was more difficult to improve. There are some shadows in there that are just totally black. I wasn't able to extract any further detail there...:-( - But at least I managed to bring out some more of the nice brown parts of the Berner-Sennen fur.
Actually, it's an Aussie but I'm always teasing her owner about having a nice tail-less berner pup :-)
