Few realize that the Detroit suburbs are chock full of lakes and trees. The image of downtown casts the entire area in unfortunate tones of gray and black. In truth, the metropolitan area is one of the most beautiful of any large city. Here's a shot of Sylvan Lake at sunset. I grabbed this on the way back from shooting my wakeboarding series. It's less than 15 miles from the city limits. There are hundreds of lakes within 25 miles of the city center.
