I've only had the FA* 28-70mm zoom for a few weeks but I love it. (I'm
the list member that checked out tv's zoom.)
If you like compact Pentax 35mm lenses this zoom might seem "heavy" at
first. But as I've used the Pentax 67 II the lens seemed "light." The lens
balances perfectly on the PZ-1p so after a few rolls you shouldn't notice the
weight. And the build quality is superior to my 43mm 'Limited' lens.
I never use either the auto focus or auto zoom capabilities. (Ok, I
admit it, I'm a manual snob.) Operating the lens manually is quick and easy
even in low light.
The negatives are sharp and crisp. 8x10 prints are not quite as sharp
as prints made from my FA* 24mm prime lens, but are sharper than any zoom
I've tried.
For general photography this zoom will be my lens of choice. If I have
the time and desire for a fine print I'll switch to my FA* prime lenses & a
sturdy tripod!
Hope this proves helpful!
