LOL.  The problem with the P&S cams is they take forever to AF.   
Tracie has a Kodak DX6490  (I believe you were there when she made the
sales pitch.  She won.)  It will pre-focus with a shutter half-depress. 
You can also manually focus  although that's more of a zone focus.  Or
you could switch to still life. ;-)

Thanks for the welcome back, Steve -- I'm cursing
the digcam at the moment..
it seems AUTO overrides ALL the preferences in the
settings and I hate
having to read manuals for 2 hours to figure
things out, can't read the
settings screen without a magnifying glass.  But
it is good for ebay stuff.

I tried shooting a cunning little dog who lives on
my street and the shutter lag
prevented my getting anything I saw, where as I
would have captured what I saw
with my KX.
