f/12 means slow shutter speeds which means vibration blur. distant landscapes in the summer will be blurred by heat shimmer, even at surprisingly high shutter speeds like 1/1000s or higher. because of atmospheric haze in addition to heat shimmer, unless used for artistic effect, really long lenses tend to be used mostly at the middle and short end of their focus range.
