Chris,

Two things come to mind.  First, Tokyo is HUGE.  A handful of labs
isn't much.  I'm sure there are more, but the more interesting
question is how many did there used to be 1-3 years ago?  How fast
they are closing is going to be a more accurate indicator of film
usage.  Also, many of those labs may be like many here in North
America that handle both film and digital.  So the question there is
how much film development has dropped off.

Second thing comes to mind is that on the medium to large format
front, film is still king.  I could imagine many of those labs doing
reasonable business dealing with those markets.
