I have an *ist D and an Optio S. The Optio S has a Li-ion battery as its only source of DC power. It's ok functionally, but it is only replaceable by another Pentax Li-ion battery (so I carry several with me). With the *ist D, at least there are other readily available options than a Pentax only source battery.
