I think you nailed my most troubling thoughts about buying an istD right now (and its just money and availability of lens)
For film I mostly use the FA24 FA77 and FA50/1.4. They are fast and sharp (compared to zooms). I also have a Tamron 90 and an F300 and lots of zooms. The long end doesn't bother me (Tamron 90 and F300 could be fun). The DA14, when available, I guess will cost $800us +/- and can't be used with film. Is there and APS SLR? Smaller lighter and shoots B&W film?? Wow Pentax there's an idea... The FA28 would be a good wide normal and not too pricey. The Camera Center here in Lafayette has the istD ($1500) and 16-45 ($500)in the showcase plus $180 tax ($1980 after rebate). I might be impulsive if the store price were in the $1700-1800 range. I would like to buy local. I'd rather have a good price on the istD with DA14 and an FA28 I guess. There now, I've got it all figured out. Now if only someone would buy my Mamiya 7II... -----Original Message----- From: keller.schaefer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 2:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: istD preferred lens survey in archive? My everyday lens was and is the FA 24-90. For portraits I use a F 1.4/50 now instead of the M 2/85. I miss a real wideangle, so I am saving for the DA 2,8/14. I would also like to have a fast 'standard' lens again, so a DA 1,4/35 would be nice for Christmas.
