I've used the 50mm f2.8 A lens a fair bit as a walkaround kit with the *istD. Quite
good but a bit long. For macro I prefer the Tamron 90mm f2.8 or the Pentax 100mm f2.8.
I haven't found a good 'standard' prime yet, and tend to use the 24-90mm zoom. I'd
love to get a 31mm ltd, bit they're a bit pricey.
Getting back on topic, one thing I have found that works well is the AF140C ringflash.
It exposes correctly at 200 ISO, and probably at other speeds but I haven't tried it
yet.
The other thing that works well is the microscope adaptor. I don't get the vignetting
that appears with some eyepieces on 35mm.
I hope to do some more experiments with the bellows and tubes when I have a week off
work next week. Won't need them on Thursday though as I'm photographing leopards at a
big cat sanctuary.

Thats nice, but anything taken at smaller apertures with
more detail? Also 90mm is pretty long for a APS sensor
which of course is good for some things, but I'm thinking
a 50mm Macro lens would be a nice setup for APS, no?

I shot this at approximately 1:2 with the *ist D and the Vivitar Series
