It's only an advantage if you aren't prepared to crop your full frame shots :-) The real fun occurs when you realize that your wide angle lenses aren't wide any more. Don't get me wrong the *ist D is a great tool but the 1.5x crop factor is less an advantage than an imposition in the end.
