I just got a Vivitar 3700 flash (looks about the same size as a 283, and I'm guessing pretty much as powerful) with a Pentax mod, so now I can use ttl flash metering on my LX. It also came with the wide angle diffuser, and off-the-camera coil wire attachment thingie. Bought it from Vic, who hasn't been seen much here recently due to being busy. Probably won't get to use it until the weekend, but I'm looking forward to testing it out...
The Bad:
Dropped my Leica CL. Hit the pavement pretty hard. A scratch on a corner - quite noticeable, but I don't care, as it's got a few scratches (as one would expect on a 30 year old camera). The thin glass in front of the viewfinder cracked, though. Only in front of the frame-line illuminator (I don't know if that's the right term - I'm sure it has a more official-sounding name). That's not a problem, but the meter needle hangs up on it sometimes, requiring a smack on the body to disengage the needle from the crack in the glass. Not wanting to do that, and feeling happy that at least the meter is working, along apparently with everything else, I reluctantly brought the camera back to Leica Camp (aka Kominek's Camera Repair). I just got it back a couple of weeks ago from the lens CLA - in fact I've only put one roll though it. Now it's back again. Hope they can fix it, although he sounded optimistic. Worse thing that happens is that I have a meterless camera with great optics. More money to spend that I don't have. Gotta stop dropping cameras - they don't like it.
