Well, the cyclone has been and gone, and all is reasonably well! Apart from the 14 trailer loads of s**t in my backyard that is. The eye of the cyclone passed over the coast this morning at about 4.00am, and about 50-70 kilometres south-west of Karratha. It was windy enough though...believe me. We had gusts into the 150 km/h regions.
Our house fared pretty well. A little water damage...but nothing major. We had 12.5 inches of rain (> 315mm) in a little over 36 hours. Not bad for the desert eh? Needless to say, we are sort of stuck in town for the next couple of weeks until things dry out! Cyclonic long weekends are not something I would recommend all that often I must admit. To damned wet and windy to even get some photos for everyone... Oh well, we're all in one piece and all is calm again (including the wife!)
