I know someone who tore the pentaprism housing off when they dropped
their *istD with a flash on.  Pentax repaired it for free, but I suspect
that was just because they didn't want this sort of negative publicity
just after launch date and wouldn't expect that to continue to be a free
repair.  Although the istD has a metal chassis, the flash bracket is not
connected to that chassis apparently.
