Oh, they innovate alright. But they still find it more profitable to sell the technology to their competitors than put it in their own cameras. If you study old patents you will be amazed at all the things that others have come on the market with first that are based on Pentax patents.

I'm amazed that there are *still* people out there who believe that
Pentax will deliver a feature-competitive product in a developing
market.

How long did it take for Pentax to introduce a real auto-focus camera?
How long before their first digital SLR body?  And we don't even know
how long it will be before we get USM and/or IS technology, even though
Pentax own patents in that area.

Pentax just aren't set up to be innovators nowadays.
