Hi Mark,

AFAIK, most laptops also have the firewire / IEEE1394/ i-link interface!
(At least, mine has)
I also spent 10 eurobucks on a PCMCIA/CF adaptor, but it's not worth it,
firewire absolutely beats it! 
Although it was 40,- and not 6,- it's absolutely worth it, for me.
Sometimes the pricetag doesn't say it all...

Speaking of a full 512 MB card, on my Pentium III/ 1GHz Schlepptop:

Cam to USB:   20 min
CF to PCMCIA: 12 min
Firewire/CF : 90 s
