So, I drank my 2 cans of Asahi last night. It was okay, in fact rather good, but I'm afraid my review is a bit unfair, because I had to have a couple of Guinnesses while I waited for the Asahi to cool off in the fridge. So, I didn't really have a clean palate going into it. I think that the heavy stouts made the first Asahi kind of tasteless with a bitterish aftertaste.

But, the second one went down much better. For a light-tasting beer, it was just a bit hoppy, and the aftertaste disappeared on beer #2. I was eating Nacho chips with Volcanoe salsa (very hot), and the light Asahi was just the ticket for cooling things down! I think this would be a nice beer with a meal, something light to balance against a hot spicy dish.

I'll try some again, but this time I'll start with a clean palate, and see what I think. I don't think it will ever replace my beloved stouts, but then that's a bit of an apples and oranges thing, no?

cheers,
frank

I'm just now having a Guinness, because it's cold.

But, BUT, I bought some beer from the non-refrigerated shelf of the liquor store, which beer is currently in the fridge, chilling. Once it's nice and cool, I'll have one. I've wanted to try one for a while, and tonight's the night (as Rod the Mod would say).

Yep. It's Asahi Beer.

I'm quite excited.

Full review to follow.
