I remember well the findings of Mark Cassino on film reflectivity.
The CCD microlenses will of course not act as a mirror, but the flat piece of
SMC glass protecting the CCD from dust may. 

I don't know if the orientation is a tell-tale sign of sensor reflectivity, but
I don't think we can rule it out.
