If you will take the time to learn how to set everything manually for your
camera, then it will be ok.  The manual meter in the viewfinder is very
similar to a match needle meter in the K1000.  I am basing this on my ZX-10
(thinking the ZX-30 is similar in handling).  Basically, set the mode to TV,
and take the lens off 'A' and you are in manual mode.  Be aware that the
meter is matrix rather than center weighted.  For learning, this could be a
slight disadvantage because it is much harder to understand what the meter
is really seeing.  All that being said, I think you will be just fine.  The
ZX-30 works great and you should be very happy with it.
