ND filters aren't cheap for large lenses. I'm already resigned to having to buy a 77mm for my 200/2.8 so that I can use it at full aperture. Fortunately the 300/2.8 takes drop-in filters.
As for "why" - take a look at a shot taken at f2.8, and compare it to a shot taken with a smaller aperture. The increased depth- of-field from the smaller aperture isn't always desirable. > And there always ND filters. > > Bill > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Herb Chong" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Thursday, November 27, 2003 2:30 PM > Subject: Re: *istD shutter speed > > > > why, if the slower ISO doesn't improve image quality? > > > > Herb... > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Kevin Waterson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Sent: Friday, November 28, 2003 11:03 PM > > Subject: *istD shutter speed > > > > > > > > > > Is 200 the minimum for the istD!? > > > I was hoping for at least 100, if not, 50. > > > > >
