The AF080C is an excellent flash. It can be used on any lens with a 49 mm
filter ring and with adapters can take larger lenses up to 58mm, which would
include the 70-200 f4 zoom and even the more modern 100-300 af lenses. It is
probably recommended for the 50-100 macros because that is a logical choice of lens
to use it on. It has a very small guide number (I think it's 8) so it's
output is really limited to macro or at least close up photography. the 70-150 zoom
is a lens that I use it with sometimes.... but I also use it with a 90mm
tokina lens. I have thought of taping off portions of it to create more modelling
but have not done that yet. I do however, use a very small fill flash to add
modelling with it at times. I find it excellent for butterflies and small
insects....
