Well, I got back from Australia on the 22nd and have been trying desperately to recover from the east-bound jet-lag. Haven't slept for more than a couple of hours over the past 4 days... Funny, going west is easy.
I had a great trip and managed to have dinner with Rob in Sydney, but missed Paul in Melbourne because I was busy running around with the in-laws. The new ist-D which arrived two days before my trip got a real work-out (about 700 images) while the Optio 330 was used underwater on the Great Barrier Reef (about 120 images). The underwater shots suffer from a lack of red (due to depth and light penetration; the real solution is a red filter specifically designed for underwater photography, but I don't think I can adapt the optio's housing to take a filter) and will need some color correction, but the camera performed great and my underwater technique has improved. There are a couple of pictures of clown fish that aren't too bad at all. I also managed to dive with four good-sized sharks.... at night! Pretty awesome stuff. Did I miss anything interesting over the past three weeks? Has anyone commented on the *ist-D? :-) My website will be updated as soon as I figure out why it's broken.... Christian
