Nor remote cable compatibility.  ZX-5n, MZ-S and *ist's all 3 use different
remote cables.
Yes, but the remote cable is the same as the MZ-6/ZX-L/*ist, not a 
proprietary connector but a simple jack !
Home made recote cord is easy to make:
