And just to confuse the issue, it really depends whether your personal 
definition of a standard lens is a lens that provides a near 1:1 ratio in the 
finder or a "normal" AOV on the print. By my reckoning a 50mm lens on the *ist 
D won't provide me with the final image that a "normal" lens should provide on 
the print hence my normal lens for use with the *ist D would likely be a 31mm.
