Fred, didn't you do your 85mm shootout without lens hoods? I took my clue
from the Pentax designers who thoughtfully included a massive hood with the
FA* 85/1.4, and I doubt that I've ever used the lens without a hood--it's
clear that loss of contrast would be a problem. In my experience, with the
hood in place that is NOT a problem.
