I has an odd thought. (I actually have many of these but I'm sharing this one.) The *ist (not the *istD) has an LCD panel on the back, exactly where a DSLR would have a monitor. It's even the size and shape of a monitor. I wonder if the *ist is designed to be converted to a low end DSLR? The electronics would have to shrink a bit relative to the *istD, but Pentax does have experience with small digital cameras. I'm probably wrong but it just a thought.
