Good news. Pentax reps around here is a bit pessimistic. Anyway, they can't deliver 
enough bodies initially. Only 6000 will arrive in Europe (I forgot to ask what

This is pretty much how camera are made these day. Probably lenses too. Subcontractors 
delivers the parts as close as possible to assembly. Assembly happens after the 
products is essentially sold.

Thre are plenty of products that deserved to suceed in the market place but for some 
reasons hasn't. I think the *istD will sell. Time will tell how much.

It is not the same camera and I have reasons to believe that the sensor is not 
identical (although it is apparently the "same"). The reason for this suspicions is 
that one reason for the delay of the *istD was that Sony had not get the chip to 
within specifications yet. I find that hard to believe if it indeed is TOTALLY 
identical to whats been used in the D100 for awhile. I admit that I have no more than 
this fact to base this on....
