I'm still going through the PUG. My favorite so far is "Vigilant" by Mark Cassino (but I'm a sucker for cats, and I don't think Mark could take a bad picture if he tried). "Thaipusam Singapore", though, by Jos van der Hijden is a very good picture, but I cringe every time I look at it. That looks so painful! :-)

Thanks Rich - I don't dare take a bad photo of Pandora (she'd rip me if I did!)

On a serious note - I found that cat in a paper bag in the street a few blocks from my house. I live in an old neighborhood with twisty windey streets, and the one she was in (called 'Burroughs Road') is a one lane street about two blocks long. The cat was so shy she just curled up and shook as I carried her home. She had scars on her mouth and tongue that suggested she had bitten through an electric cord sometime in the past. I assumed she was a kitten because she was so small, but the vet informed me she was full grown. He warned me not to get attached to her because, after spaying her, he said she was very under-developed inside. She was so terribly shy and afraid of everything in those early days that I got a cardboard box, taped it shut, and cut a hole about the size of baseball in it. She would spend hours inside that box, only venturing out to eat or use her litter box.

That was fourteen years ago. She's outlived two younger cats in the house and is the only one who has paid her way by knocking off mice when I had a mouse problem a year or so ago. It took several years but she has gotten to be quite confident and is now very outgoing and playful - given her size and attitude, these days people mistake her for a kitten.

Just shows what a little love and lots of patience can do!
