I've often noticed that the opening message in a series seems to be 
missing. I read the list on Mail-Archive.com, which as I've often noted 
here is completely unreliable. So I have thought that the problem lay 
with Mail Archive. Perhaps it doesn't.

Well, for once, something I can't blame on Mail-Archive.com.
