They all do that, Alan, especially when focused close. They are excellent in the 80-135mm range, increasingly mediocre after that unless focused at infinity and stopped down more than one stop.
Actually I shot them at near infinity. But one stop down, the improvement was dramatic. It made me wonder if I made an error.
