I thought of that too.  I can imagine the headlines:
"New techonology from Pentax prompts mass lens
castration"

What I really meant was that I find this step-by-step
change of the lens mount odd and counter-productive. 
I can understand cost-cutting features on low-end
models but at some point they're going to have to make
a decision about making the interaction fully
electronic and until they decide to do it there's no
practical reason to make do with half-measures.  They
might as well keep full compatability in some portion
of their line-up (the high end), so unless they put
out a "flagship camera" that has this same crippled
coupling I figure they know what they're doing.
